With all of the turmoil going on in the world we couldn't not address this. We live in a world that is often unjust and unfair. Sometimes there is a light at the end of the tunnel but horrendous events like these remind us that we haven't come very far from where we started.
RACIAL INJUSTICE has been around for centuries and as we move two steps forward we have a tendency to take ten steps back. We pray that we finally find a world where people are no longer oppressed no matter your skin color or your religion. We pray for justice and we pray for peace.
Fighting violence with more violence continues this vicious cycle. We all understand that there will always be bad people in the world. What we can do however, is support one another and come together to eliminate the chances of this happening in the future.
We may not understand what the BLACK community is going through because the truth is we ARE privileged and the color of our skin enables us to have opportunities many others don't. It's unfortunate that this is the world we live in. With that said, even though we cannot compare ourselves, we do feel YOUR pain!
These actions cannot be justified and should not be tolerated. Violence is not the only issue. The list goes on! Throughout the Corona pandemic as physicians we continue to see how racial disparities and lack of access to care continues to shine through. This demonstrates that there is a lot that we have to do not just as individuals but as a society. We have to love one another for the greater good of humanity and support each other in times of need.
We love each and every one of you.
We hope that in the future we don't need events like these to serve as that reminder.
Now let's take a moment and honor George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and all the other individuals who were murdered by evil, inhumane individuals. We will not forget all those individuals who came before them so as to finally break free from this persecution. Those who were responsible for these events should be and will be held accountable. So for our final plea, let's:
End the violence.
End the discrimination.
End the HATE.
If you believe in G-d (no matter which you believe in) or a higher power, please say a prayer (whatever version it may be). AMEN.
